Mediterranean Pride of Naples

The Coordination Rainbow Campania (Naples and Salerno Arcigay, Arcilesbica Naples, Naples Trans Association, Rainbow Families, masculine plural and other associations, groups and collectives LGBT or not), in agreement with the Association Iken Naples and Avellino and with the support of all the other parties to this platform, aims to promote through the Mediterranean Pride of Naples 2014 (MPoN 2014), the protagonist and the visibility of the LGBT population town and regional level, as unique and effective tool against discrimination and prejudice, violence, and the 'backwardness, hatred and ignorance. The initiative will have a macro-regional connotation by virtue of the condition historical, geographical and cultural center of the hinge that the city of Naples has always played as the geometric center of the Mediterranean, an area that divides and unites at the same time, an open space to which the gaze and thoughts, a "liquid cement" that has enabled and amplified over time the movement of goods and ideas. |
Thet Mediterranean that has been an opportunity for growth and cultural exchange, these days it is only remembered because it becomes, with tragic regularity, the tomb for hundreds of men, women and children fleeing abuse, violence and hunger.
It is just on the level of compliance with the Civil Rights that it is in fact possible to retrieve the size of the Mediterranean as a space dell'opportunit: growth opportunities for cultural, civic, social and economic.
For this reason Naples is a place from which strives toward the south and east of the Mediterranean signs of a civil renewal which the LGBT movement can be a leader and, at the same time, as a place that collects, processes and transfers signals from the outside.
The Mediterranean Pride of Naples therefore looks towards this cultural dimension, fitting with this particular connotation in '"Wave" Pride of territorial, and more generally in the landscape of international pride, that their June 28, the International Day of pride lgbt, see worldwide time to greater diffusion.
