2_Estate Second stage of the two-year project Seven Seasons of the Spirit

Monday June 2nd, 2014 at 12pm, at the MADRE Museum presents 2_Estate, second opera of the cycle "the MADRE Museum introduces itself 2_Estate", second work of the cycle Seven Seasons of the Spirit, created by Gian Maria Tosatti, by Eugenio Viola ,promoted and supported by the Fondazione Morra.
The work 2_Estate from May 1st to July 5th, 2014 at the former Municipal Population in Piazza Dante, 79, from Tuesday to Saturday from 1pm to 7pm (Sundays and Mondays by appointment).

2_Estate, the second stage of the two-year project Seven Seasons of the Spirit, a site-specific installation that explores the concept of inertia, a condition of the soul faced by Gian Maria Tosatti shorting references heterogeneous: the "archaeological" approach by Agamben meets Pasolini di Petronio's last disillused reflections, the Dante plant upward matrix, the introspective Teresa de Jesus, abitual art references that give themselves to the tearing of the present. Different and distant elements become the thin expedient in Tosatti to carry on a bitter reflection that uses as an analogy with the Republican Italy, its lack of identity, to investigate a "disease of the mind" common to every man that you glide towards the lowliness, in what is, ultimately, a work of hell.
The place chosen for this second operation cycle is, as in the previous case, another open wound in the body of Naples. Tosatti chose a building that is so visible that it became invisibile and that stands in Piazza Dante. The building was born in the XVII century as a monastery, than it hosted the Italian registry established in Naples in 1809. Nowadays, despite being closed and pouring in a degraded mode, it contains most of the documents that recorded of the Neapolitan identity for over 200 years.

On the occasion of the opening of 2_Estate, The exhibition 1_La peste (The plague) will be open on the Sundays of june and on June, 13th.
