Doctors Without Borders - Photo exhibition "Urban Survivors. Surviving in the slums"

 A journey through images, through the photos of five internationally renowned photographers, in five large slums where survival is a daily challenge.

The photographers Pep Bonet, Alixandra Fazzina, Stanley Greene, Jon Lowenstein and Francesco Zizola, five of the most important photojournalists in the world of Noor Agency, visited the slums in Dhaka (Bangladesh), Port-au-Prince (Haiti), Johannesburg (South Africa), Karachi (Pakistan) and Nairobi (Kenya) to tell the storie of those who struggle daily to survive away from spotlight.

The inauguration will be held on Thursday, March 6th at 5.00pm in the presence of Luigi de Magistris, Mayor of Naples, Gaetano Daniele, Head of the Department for Culture and Tourism of the Municipality of Naples, and Gabriele Eminente, DWB General Director Italy. The inauguration and the exposition will take place at Charles V Hall of Castel Nuovo (Maschio Angioino). Moreover, on Saturday 8th, 15th and 22nd, from 10am to 1pm and from 4pm to 6.30pm, the volunteers of the Neapolitan group of Doctors Without Borders and the aid workers of the city will illustrate the action of DWB giving information to visitors.

Doctors Without Borders

Doctors Without Borders (DWB) is an international medical humanitarian organization working in more than 60 countries to assist people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe. The association is made up mainly of doctors and health sector workers and is also open to all other professions which might help in achieving its aims. The main principles of the Association are to provide assistance to populations indistress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters and to victims of armedconflict, to observe neutrality and impartiality in the name of universal medical ethics and the right to humanitarian assistance and claims full and unhindered freedom in the exercise of its functions.

Médicos Sin Fronteras - Exposición fotográfica "Urban Survivors. Sobrevivir en las barriadas pobres"

Del 6 al 28 de marzo de 2014, Sala Carlos V - Castel Nuovo

Un viaje a través de las imágenes y de las fotografías sacads por cinco fotógrafos de renombre internacional, que inmortalizaron cinco grandes barrios pobres, donde la supervivencia es un reto diario.
 
Los fotógrafos Pep Bonet, Alixandra Fazzina, Stanley Greene, Jon Lowenstein y Francesco Zizola, cinco de los fotoperiodistas más importantes en el mundo de la Agencia Noor, visitaron los barrios marginales de Dhaka (Bangladesh), Port-au-Prince (Haití), Johannesburgo (Sudáfrica), Karachi (Pakistán) y Nairobi (Kenia) para contar las historias de aquellos que luchan diariamente para sobrevivir.
 
La inauguración de la exposición tendrá lugar el jueves 6 de marzo a las 17:00 en presencia de Luigi de Magistris, alcalde de Nápoles, Gaetano Daniele, Director del Departamento de Cultura y Turismo de la Municipalidad de Nápoles, y Gabriele Eminente, Director General de MSF Italia, en el salón Carlos V de Castel Nuovo (Maschio Angioino).
Por otra parte, el sábado 8, 15 y 22 de marzo, de 10 a 13 y de 16 a 18.30 horas, los voluntarios del grupo Nápoles Médicos Sin Fronteras y los trabajadores de ayuda humanitaria de la ciudad ilustrarán la acción de MSF dando información a los visitantes.

MSF son las siglas por las que se conoce en todo el mundo a Médicos Sin Fronteras, una organización médico-humanitaria internacional que asiste a poblaciones en situación precaria, y a víctimas de catástrofes y de conflictos armados, sin discriminación por raza, religión o ideología política.
