In Ducal Naples: Art science and culture for revival of city

For over 42 years the Basilica of San Giovanni Maggiore was closed and its important presence was, apparently, fogotten. The extraordinary stratification, from classical period to the early Christian one, the complex modifications during the medieval era, at the time of Renaissance, Baroque until those one more recent of nineteenth- twentieth century, its architectural structure and weaving building with its old apse, renovated by the Superintendence, make it one of the more articulated and fascinated complex of Naples:an authentic program full of history and architectural accounts, constructive and historical- artistic.

With a great pride of this City, by the way, come back to live a monument full of art, history and sacred, thanks to the Jubilee for the city of Naples, arranged by the Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe and to the Establishment Ordine Ingegneri of Naples. Engineers, thru Jubilee, have given back to a part of city that live in art- decay, a kind of dignity, with the aim to improve thru citydwellers.

The Basilica attemps to become the heart of historical centre of city, where cultural initiatives and social proposal will join together with the religious one; characters of this fusion will be residents, visitors and tourists.
