45 ART - l'Arte a 45 giri (45rpm Art)

Cover Art exhibition by Carmine D'Onofrio

From 14th July to 10th September 2012 at the PAN - Palazzo Arti Napoli, in collaboration with the municipal Department of Culture and Tourism and Department of Environment. The vernissage will be held on Saturday 14th July at 6 p.m.

45art collects 545 original covers of jazz, rock and pop 45 RPM records from the 40s to today, inviting us to think about the union between music and visual-arts and the social-historical relevance of these elements. The exhibition includes Picture Discs, Etched Discs and rare Shaped copies, all limited edition records reserved to radio, journalists and music experts. The exhibition offers also an interesting audio-video section, with nine headphones listening spaces and a room dedicated to musical movies, concerts and festivals screening. 45 ART hosts also the "7 pollici e...45 mani d'artista" exhibition from the "Chiamata alle arti" project, promoted by the Regional Department of Youth Politics in Campania: 45 young artists propose new Cover Art visions through painting works and drawings made on 7 inches vinyl supports, realizing also some extemporary productions. Musical Showcases, cover band lives and rigorously 45 RPM records-only DJ Sets will take place at the exhibition.

45Art - l'Arte a 45 giri is one of the biggest exhibitions in Italy. It has been created to show and celebrate Cover Art. Many brilliant artistic talents chose Cover Art as a way to graphic experimentation and promotion of their own work: from Salvador Dalì to Andy Warhol, from Guido Crepax to Keith Haring and Damien Hirst.
