Who we are

In the June of 2007 with Mayor's decree a promoting committee was constituted, that will become then it General Forum Council, composed by exponents of Neapolitan culture and the greater political, cultural and economic institutions, present in city for the presentation of the candidacy of Naples to host the 2013 edition of the Universal Forum of Cultures.

One month later, with another decree, an operational committee was constituted with the assignment to coordinate the initiatives of the public and private institutions interested in the realization in Naples of the 2013 Universal Forum of Cultures and also for the participation of the city of Naples to the 2007 edition of the Forum in Monterrey.

In August 2007 a Decree of the President of the Council of the Ministers formalizes the institution of the General Council with the assignment to coordinate all the initiatives to support the candidacy of Naples for 2013 and to programme the cultural events to realize in Monterrey. It is also thanks to the participation to Monterrey that on 19th December 2007 Naples was chosen as World Capital of Cultures for 2013. The decision was taken unanimously in Barcelona from the Fundaciòn Forum Universale de les Cultures, presided by the Mayor of the Catalan city Jordi Hereu, in which the Alderman Nicola Oddati presented the whole infrastructural and cultural project for 2013. The promoting committee became in January 2008 General Forum Council presided by Nicola Oddati.
