The spring in Naples will be illuminated by its beauties; the evident ones,as castles and fortresses that rule the city from centuries, and the hidden ones, to discover step by step walking through the historic centre.
It's May of Monuments, that will last four weekends in May and in this year edition, "Itinerari di arte e cultura - Napoli tra chiese e castelli" chose to renew its system, increasing the importance given to museums and monuments of Naples.
This year, the events will take place,on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays of May, in striking places: Castel Sant'Elmo, Maschio Angioino (Castel Nuovo), Castel dell'Ovo and Castel Capuano. Every weekend, in every castle will offer a play, an exhibition, a concert; a unique and rich offer, that will be certainly appreciated to tourists and neapolitans, which will have the chance to see an open and lively city.
Except these events in the castles, guided tours will be set out to discover hidden treasures such as: the sparsely patronized streets, the curiosity and the many works of art in Naples, and in addition concerts of classic, jazz and folk music will take place in many, wonderful and monumental churches
We just have to live May together, with the will to discover the suggestions and the magic of a very unique city.
During "May of Monuments" and in June and July 2008 in Castel dell'Ovo an innovatice service of tourist information will be tested. It is a service based on wireless technologies. The project is realised by Cittą della Scienza with Comune di Napoli, in an european project of international cooperation called "BLEuMED - Banda Larga Europea per il Mediterraneo".
At the entry there will be a distribution of palmtop computers (1 available) to visitators. The palmtop computers are connected to a telematic wireless network, through which it will be possible to approach, in a interactive and personalized way, informative contents of the monument, his history, the architecture, or an analysis of the main interesting points along the visit path.
Futher informations will concern the landscape seen from the terraces, the main tourist itineraries of the city and the events planned in the Castle during the period of the test. Thanks to terminals It will be possible the navigation in some web sites of tourist information on the city.
