From Corso Vittorio Emanuele to Monte Echia
Women mystics, educators and revolutionaries
Stages and women characters of the tour
Tour four begins from the terraces abd sombre atmosphere of the monastic complex of Suor Orsola Benincasa on the Vomero hill and ends on Mount Echia, site of the foundation of the ancient city of Palepoli, which overlooks the rock of Megaride where the legendary siren of Pathenope died. On the way we encounter women painters, founders of women's educational institutes and revolutionaries.
The tour begins in Corso Vittorio Emanuele II near the Central Funicular station. A small road runs off uphill to the left to one of the modern entrance ways to an ancient convent which is now the premises of the Istituto Suor Orsola Benincasa.
