The City of Youth in the Royal Home for the Poor

big building extended in lenght. in the middlle, a large staircase with lateral accesses.

On January 28 2005 the Town Council approved "the Master plan for the carrying out of the City of Youth in the Royal Home for the Poor" as well as the executive project for all kinds of restoration in the upper rooms in Piazza Carlo III.

The restoration of the monumental building begins a new phase. Every rebuilding yard is at work in the areas where buildings have collapsed or where there is the risk of further damage as well as to restore the front building in Piazza Carlo III. Meanwhile, new building yards are being contracted to work in the areas in front of the building and the central courtyard. Also, assessment studies to grant the use of the building and further information and updates have been concluded.

The Administration aims to facilitate the full development of young people on a cultural and social basis, by providing services and information, events, leisure time activities, cultural activities, and accommodation. It also aims to foster and revitalize the building which, once restored, will be ready to be enjoyed to the full: each one of its numerous rooms (over 430, mostly large) and 20,000 square metres of open space.

The "City of Youth in the Royal home for the Poor" is incomparable for its dimensions and importance, the activities it offers and its accessibility. In the Royal Home for the Poor it will be possible to attend university or specialization courses, perform plays, enjoy music and sport, go to the cinema, gather information and access assistance services for study and work, meet people who are ready to listen to you or citizens from other countries.
